A dairy company has been fined nearly 49 thousand dollars for turning a Hawke s Bay stream green A dairy company has been fined nearly 49 thousand dollars for turning a Hawke s Bay stream green 12 March 2021 Maxwell Farms was sentenced in the Hastings District Court today for discharging 80 thousand litres of effluent into the Mangatutu Stream, in December 2019. The company was found to have breached its resource consent - as the acting farm manager hadn t been trained in managing effluent. It meant people were advised not to swim for a week in the river the stream flowed into. The Regional Council s Katrina Brunton, says the penalty should deter further offending.
